A Prayer

Oh dear God, make known my calling

Unto me this day I ask

I would know my work, my duty

I would know my given task

Although I sin day by day

I would walk the narrow way

Feed the poor and heed the lowly,

Preach God’s word to sin sick souls

Just one plea I would have granted

‘Tis when I from life depart

That my work will bear me witness

In some life rejoicing heart.
